Beautification Committee

Mission Statement:  To improve our quality of life in Bissonet Plaza and to encourage neighbors to take pride in our subdivision.

The "Beautify Kawanee Project Completed"! The Bissonet Civic Association would like to thank the Jefferson Community Foundation for their $4,000.00 grant, Metairie Bank and Trust Company for their $1,000.00 grant and Friends of Jefferson the Beautiful for their $500.00 grant.

On April 14, 2010 the Bissonet Civic Association presented Councilman Louis Congemi with a $5,000.00 check in appreciation for his generous support, without which the “Beautify Kawanee Project” would not have been possible. 

Thank you Councilman Congemi!

Projects!!!

 Missions Accomplished

1. The “Beautify Kawanee Project” completed!  Thank you Parkway Dept!
2. The “BISSONET” entrance sign installed on Kawanee.
3. The Fence was repaired at Tear Drop by the DOTD.
4. Entergy replaced power pole at the Bissonet and Veterans entrance.
5. Litter was picked up on W. Canal at Apollo by Parkway. Power Blvd./ I 10 Overpasses swept by the DOTD. And DOTD has agreed to sweep the Power Blvd. / I 10 Overpasses monthly.
6. Water Dept. replaced drain cover at corner of Craig St. and Hastings St.

 In Progress:

1. Planting of 35 Natchez White Crepe Myrtles and 27 Little Gem Magnolias is scheduled to complete the “Beautify Power Blvd” project by the Jefferson Parish Parkway Department this spring.
2. Curbing on Kawanee going into the Rouses parking lot to be repaired by Parkway.
3. Requested to have litter on Kawanee (by newly landscaped area) picked up every other weekend by the “community service program.”
4. We are still working with Councilman Congemi to install a small parking lot accessible to the YMCA Kaboom Playground located on Riverside Drive.
