Our mission:

The Bissonet Civic Association is organized exclusively for the purpose of furthering the common good and general welfare of the people of the community and bringing about civic betterments and social improvements.  The objective shall be to develop a community designed for safe, healthful and harmonious living.

Members of the Bissonet Civic Association have the opportunity to vote on decisions that impact our neighborhood and to elect Board members. Additionally
, you will receive all issues of our newsletter, which is published several times per year.  Membership dues are used to support programs designed to promote the organization's mission.

Important Messages!!!

Due to personal reasons Patti Christopher has resigned as President of the Bissonet Civic Association. The BCA Board thanks Patti for her hard work and devotion to our association and wish her well in all future endeavors.

The BCA Board would also like to announce that Jim Young has been selected by the board to fill Patti's position as President and Fran King will fill Jim's position as Vice President.

The new Master Plan for the Jefferson Parish Library system calls for  ABANDONING the Wagner Library once the New North Kenner branch is built?   

We have 4 schools (Bissonet Plaza, St. Philip Neri, Atonement Lutheran and Bonnabel) basically within walking distance of this library and three more schools within approx. 2 miles (St. Ann, Schneckenberger and John Q. Adams). 

The plan projects that Wagner Library would be closed by 2015.

 The Southern Animal Foundation

is partners with Jefferson Parish to present “Spay Jefferson”, a low-cost spay and neuter program.

In order for Jefferson Parish residents to take advantage of this program an appointment must be made in advance by calling, 504-975-PETS (7387). Proof of Jefferson Parish residency is required (valid driver’s license or state ID). Cost is $10 for cats and $10 for dogs and services will be offered at Southern Animal Foundation’s annex, located at 1829 Magazine Street, every Monday, Tuesday and Friday starting December 1, 2009.

Southern Animal Foundation is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. For more information or to donate to SAF, call 504-671-8235 or visit southernanimalfoundation.org.

We are pleased to announce the start date of our next JPSO Citizens Academy. The upcoming class will start on April 6, 2010 and run for eight consecutive Tuesday evenings ending on May 25, 2010.
 
The course will cover topics such as Patrol, CSI, SWAT, Criminal Investigations, Search and Rescue, Corrections, and much more. The classes are free and are open to Jefferson Parish residents.
 
If you are interested in attending or know of someone who may be interested in attending, please have them fill out an application which can be obtained from our website at WWW.JPSO.COM.
 
The classes are informative and interesting and have been well received by those who have attended.
