From the President

As this year draws to a close, I would like to thank everyone who had helped to improve our Bissonet neighborhood, and wish everyone a very happy New Year. Special thanks go to all the BCA members who have devoted their time and efforts to improving our Quality of Life in Bissonet.

Additionally, without the assistance of Councilman Louis Congemi, his staff and the Jefferson Parish School Board, we could not have accomplished all we did.

Please take notice of the new parking area and sidewalk of Bissonet Elementary School. Thanks go to BCA board members Carol Delaune and Beryl Young for working with the school and the school board to get the improvements done for the safety of the children and visitors.

As you drive down Kawanee, please enjoy our Christmas wreaths again this year.

The BCA is continuing our efforts with the parish officials to reduce the blight in our neighborhood. Blight and Code Violations may be reported through this website or by calling 73NOWAY. Our Beautification Committee is working with Rouse's to enhance their 'green space' along Kawanee Avenue.

We need volunteers to serve as block captain for our neighborhood watch program, Please contact Paul Hodges.

We are happy to announce the appointment of Carol Delaune (BCA Beautification Committee Chairperson) by Councilman Louis Congemi to the Keep Jefferson Parish Beautiful Advisory Board representing District 4, who's mission will be litter prevention, waste reduction and community beautification. Keep Jefferson Parish Beautiful is an affiliate of the national Keep America Beautiful Organization.

As, the BCA ends our working relationship with Councilman Louis Congemi, we would like to thank him for all he has done for the Bissonet subdivision. THANK YOU LOUIS!

The BCA would like to to this opportunity to welcome our new Councilman for District 4, Ben Zahn. BCA Board members have met with Ben who has promised to continue the support the BCA has enjoyed while working with Councilman Congemi and his staff.

Remember, we need your support to continue the quality of life improvements we enjoy in our neighborhood.

Thanks for all your support,
Jim Young
BCA President
