BEAUTIFICATION BUZZ!!!

BEAUTIFY YOUR HOME AND OUR SUBDIVISION

Tips from your Beautification Committee

  1. Pick up all newspaper and the Times Picayune Advertiser daily, do not let them collect on front lawn or sidewalk.  If you do not wish to receive the Free Advertiser just call the Times Picayune at 822-6660, ext. #0 and they will stop delivery.
  2. Remove all flyers from front door and porch daily.
  3. Keep carport, front porch and yard free of clutter and toys.
  4. Pick up litter as soon as you see it in front of your house and the street.
  5. For a manicured look…cut and edge grass weekly during growing season.
  6. Avoid cutting grass too short to prevent brown spots and diseases.
  7. Water grass and gardens weekly if it has not rained.
  8. Fertilize and aerate lawn seasonally.
  9. Sweep up grass clipping after cutting grass.
  10. Do not leave grass clipping in street…they will eventually clog up the drains.
  11. Keep all drains clear at all times to help prevent street from flooding.
  12. Trim and prune hedges and shrubs.
  13. Keep large trees trimmed to avoid blocking streetlights.
  14. Keep yards and gardens free of weeds and dead plants.
  15. Add a window box.  Plant annuals for color.
  16. Pot annuals or perennials in large pot. Place next to front door.
  17. Add colorful plants to flower beds for interest and eye catching.
  18. Mulch beds seasonally to protect roots, prevent weeds and water loss.
  19. Plant companion plants to prevent fungal diseases.
  20. Plant French and Pot Marigolds whose scent deters many pests.
  21. Keep garden hoses out of sight.
  22. Clean mildew off house…a pressure washer is great for this!
  23. Keep house free from peeling paint.
  24. Repair and / or repaint shutters, doors, overhangs and fences.
  25. Enhance entry way by painting front door and hanging a seasonal wreath.
  26. Make sure house numbers are seen easily from the street.
  27. Take down all holiday decorations no later than 10 days after holiday.
  28. Keep basketball goals between your house and the sidewalk.
  29. Pick up garbage cans ASAP after the trash has been collected.
  30. Do not put out trashcans for pick up until 4:00 PM the day before.
  31. If it is not trash day keep trashcans behind a fence or in the garage.
  32. Do not block sidewalks.  Remember children are walking to school, mothers  walking babies in strollers and the elderly taking their daily walks.
  33. Do not park cars, boats or trailers on grass.
  34. Do not park boats or trailers in carport or driveway.
  35. Do not park any vehicles on the right-of-way.
  36. Do not park vehicle across from neighbor’s driveway because it makes it difficult for them to back out of their driveway.
